Seeking help with life’s challenges takes courage. I applaud you for taking this important step. I provide compassionate, practical, and effective therapy, working with adults, children, teens and families on issues including:
- Family and/or parenting issues
- Adoption challenges
Adoptees, Adoptive Parents, Birthparents
- Grief and loss
- Relationship difficulties
- Coping with difficult life circumstances
Counseling is a collaborative process. Together we will examine your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to learn what helps and what gets in the way of living the life you want. I will work actively with you, sharing my observations, giving constructive feedback, supporting your growth, challenging problematic ideas, and suggesting homework or reading when I believe it will be useful.
My overall treatment orientation is systemic, which means I carefully consider the family, school, work, faith and other community systems that are essential to your personal wellness. I will use a variety of other approaches based on your needs including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Skills Training.
I have extensive experience and training in adolescent and child development, adoption and foster care, grief and bereavement, and sexual abuse and trauma treatment. I have worked for over 20 years with youth and their families in schools, adoption agencies, community mental health agencies.
I enjoy this work. It is a profound privilege to assist people in the process of change.
